After mind mapping and developing thumbnails within their teams, students are in the digital development stage of the project. They need to use Photoshop or Illustrator to complete their postcard designs! For the next project, Digital Postcards, the class transformed into a design firm. The students have become graphic designers tasked with developing new postcards promoting the NIU School of Art. Working in teams, students began mind mapping ideas based around their postcards' target audience. Each group has a specific audience. After completing a large color wheel as a class, we have begun working on a color and value portrait of a famous person using a collage technique! Students are currently painting a color value scale ranging from shade to tint using gouache paint. This scale will be reference as they enter into the collage portrait! Another work day on the Balance and Proportion project! Stay turned for the final pieces... due Friday!
Working on the latest project, Balance and Proportion while watching the typeface documentary, Helvetica! With this assignment, themes of construction, deconstruction, and abstraction are explored. |
